Uninspired.

I can't come up with any thing blog worthy. I'm completely in a block. I will be back, and soon!

Happiness is....

1- waking up to find school back in session
2- getting the mail and finding a $20 refund check from a dentist you haven't visited in a year.
3- knowing that in exactly 3.5 hours you will be leaving for a much needed hair appointment, dinner, and shopping with friends.
4- planning for my beautiful baby's 3rd birthday tomorrow.
5- watching the heavy snow falling in my warm, bright house (I know I complain about it a lot, but it really is peaceful to watch)
6-finishing a lot of projects that were half way done.
7-eating a healthy, yummy salad for lunch.

My 3rd Child.

As is was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day yesterday, my husband did not have to work. He decided at lunch time that he wanted to make an omelet. But this omelet needed to include hash browns. We didn't have any in the house, so he decides to run out for some. Fine. As he's getting ready to go, he can't find his wallet and keys. It took him 5 minutes, but he found his keys. All the while, he's walking around muttering about them being lost, and not being able to find them. He glances at me, expecting me to join in the search. I usually know where his stuff is, because I'm good like that. But today, I honestly didn't know, and I wasn't about to stop feeding 4 children lunch to help him. So then we get to the wallet part, he looks EVERYWHERE, and finally finds it in the sleeve of his COAT. Too funny. Fast forward to this morning.

We got 12 inches of snow last night. Schools are cancelled, it's bad out. So he decides that he's going to start his car while he takes a shower, so it's warm when he's ready. As he's putting his coat on, he says, where's my keys. I said, are you kidding me? You started your car 10 minutes ago, so imagine that the keys are in the ignition. DUH! SMart man, but gah, can he be like a kid sometimes.

A Day Late....

I wrote a letter to my mother's friend, who is essenially my friend as well. She's really like my second mother. I've known her since I was 6 years old, the same age as my oldest baby. She had horses, and my love for them grew with her guidance and knowledge. Every thing I know about them now, is thanks to her. I started out working with one of her older geldings, to which the horse became mine. I learned with that old plug horse, and then when I turned 10, my mother budged, and bought me my own beautiful horse. Through the years, we became close. Ever since I moved away to college, and then a little further to my hometown now, we have drifted apart. She gave me a piece of who I am now. I spent so many hours and days with her, it would be hard not to have.

She never had children, so I became her pseudo daughter. I would spend weekends at her house, even though it was only 5 minutes from my own home, just so I could wake up in the mornings and walk outside and feed my own horse. We would go on camping trips with our horses together, and trail rides many towns away, and the hometown parades we would ride in together.

When my horse was injured in an accident, she was the one to accompany me to Michigan State University with him for his surgery.

I thanked her for spending all those years mentoring me, and being my second mother, and that I missed seeing her as much.

I'm thankful for my friends, but none of them will have the same kind of relationship with my children, the way I had with her.
